Yeah alright, you know what is the issue with horror that's based on sex appeal?

That it's not very horror-y.

It's trying so hard to be scary it actually comes off as silly, so having a hot lady be your horror monster is really weird. It's why movies like "Species" never worked out. You can make horror movies with sexual connotations, like "Alien", but if the alien had fun bags then it won't be scary it'd be hot, and distracting, and definitely banned in this website.

First drawing was from a comic I drew as an extra doodle for funsies but now I’m having thoughts.

Like I know Leif is already a pretty powerful character when playing the game. But can you imagine if he was given the opportunity to have close range attacks? Game would be broken if he wasn’t balanced properly.

I’m sure this dude is physically not as strong as Vi or Kabbu to balance the fact he got ice magic after being woken up after who knows how long (Leif was in scouting so fighting wasn’t his thing to begin with and you kinda needed to escort him for the first bit). Though the thought of combining ice magic to enhance his physical combat skills is pretty badass.

Turning his fists into sharp hard boxing mits, or using an icicle as a dagger?

I dunno just a fun little idea.

my personal pipe dream is that one monday the egg statistics drop and flippa (and maybe tilin) are just there. at the end. with one heart, and one gray checkmark.

what i imagine is the server flips their shit. alive!!! alive!!! but they log in and they don't see the eggs. instead they get a message. i do not care who it's from or how it's delivered. they're told the eggs are being held captive somewhere, but they're alive. all that's left is to find them, before sunday at midnight pst. bc if their tasks aren't done, they die (one checkmark, one quest set. once rescued they become triple check like the other eggs)

slimeriana come CRASHING back into the server, they don't know jack shit, ESPECIALLY mariana who doesn't recognize 90% of the island anymore but holy fuck, flippa is alive somewhere and they have to find her. and maybe mariana's still in the old server days mindset of raising his kid alone but slime's slowly been indoctrinated into "it takes a village" and honestly the absolute second mariana logs on, someone's gonna be in chat already like HEY MARIANA CAN I TALK TO YOU? be it baghera or cellbit or forever or bad or I DON'T KNOW, COULD GENUINELY BE ANYONE LMAO but like mystery and eggs in danger is chumming the water for this server

which is great bc A) mariana has a concrete goal for logging into the server (finding his daughter) and B) he would be interacting with the rest of the server along the way, because he's not going to be doing this alone (he wouldn't even be allowed lmfao the rest of the server would be at his doorstep asking to help him in like 15 seconds flat) which means C) he might get reasons to log in extending outside flippa and slime. bingooooo

i call this a pipe dream bc i can poke so many holes in this even rn (does cc!mariana want flippa back, like fr? i'm not up to date) but can you IMAGINE. LIKE DAMN. i'm putting this idea into the public domain fr go nuts with it.

WASP REVIEW - ZASP (BUG FABLES)

As some of y'all may know from my review of the game, I'm a big fan of Bug Fables, in which wasps are a wonderfully major part of the game (although unfortunately mostly antagonists throughout, though I don't take much issue with that due to some spoilery story reasons as well as the real world territorialism of wasps, much like the species of the other kingdoms), and there's perhaps no wasp in this game more iconic than reoccurring character Zasp!

At first glance, one might think this guy is based on a paper wasp such as Polistes metricus (Interestingly with coloration that's more representative of a female of the species than a male).

But apparently, according to some messages from the co-creator and one of the character designers of the game (as seen in this post by @flame-shadow in the latter addition), he's actually a potter wasp, another subfamily of Vespidae! Finding this, I searched for a bit to try to find a species that he resembled, but results are thusfar inconclusive, with none of the species I've seen so far matching his short mandibles, yellow legs, black antennae, and mostly red and black face and abdomen quite as well as the Polistes species. Perhaps he bears some resemblance to species of the genus Rhynchium, but again, I'm unable to find a species that matches, especially with all species having such large mandibles.

If I am able to find a species that fits his look, however, I'll make sure to update y'all!

In any case however, this does make sense with the fact he's unaffected by Hoaxe's mind control and his overall antisocial attitude, only truly being socially attached to Mothiva, as potter wasps are solitary species as opposed to the eusocial paper wasps! However, once again, Zasp possesses one feature that is more likely to be found on a female wasp rather than a male, which is his stinger! The stinger of a wasp is a modified ovipositor, an egg laying female organ, whereas male wasps are known to have either no sting at all, or a pair of unfortunately named "genital spines". Perhaps this could mean something about Zasp's relationship with his gender, but who's to say ^^

As a character, meanwhile, I'm quite the fan of him! The classic sort of edgy antisocial type, but the kind of guy who is clearly loyal to those he likes, often helping you after you help him out in the Honey Factory, although only when Mothiva isn't around. Ever the loyal partner, he does everything he can to help Mothiva, and appears to get extremely upset if you attack her, only getting worse if you knock her down!

In fact, there's a quest in the game, 'Lost Item', in which, you help return a plush doll of Mothiva to a "mysterious" hooded figure in Defiant Root

We all know it's you buddy, no need to put that cloak on! Upon returning the doll to him, he tries not to show it but he's clearly very excited to have it back, which is so so sweet!

There is one thing that may make his attachment to Mothiva a bit disturbing if you think about it too much, though, and that's the fact that potter wasps are known to mass provision their larvae with prey to feed on. This can include beetle larvae, spiders, and, of course, caterpillars!

There are two of these: one here at the start of Hidden Forest, and one at the end of Eye of Eden, between the constellation stone and the path to the portal, over on the right on a bridge made of sparkles. You can only use one of them once, then both just become paperweights.

it's Greg Ford who summarizes the short best in his commentary: "everything feels super fresh here in this thing, like it was the first time it was happening--because it was"… but the thing is, you still feel it now." sure enough, Hold the Lion, Please could be considered the first "true" Chuck Jones Bugs Bunny cartoon, and already, the seeds of what make Chuck's bunny are being planted. Tedd Pierce not only has a writing credit, but steps up back to the mic after an absence of 4 years and voices our starring cowardly lion who seeks to prove his ferocity by killing a rabbit. of course, said rabbit being Bugs doesn't make that quest particularly easy.
